How to Set Up Retill: From Sign-Up to Your First Sale

Getting started with Retill is straightforward. Whether you run a single kiosk or a growing chain, the same setup flow applies: create your Versified account, subscribe to Retill, configure your shop, add products, and start selling. This guide covers every step.

Step 1: Create your account and subscribe

  1. Click Get started on the Retill website and create a Versified account with your email and password.
  2. From your account menu, open Apps and select Retill.
  3. Click Subscribe, choose the number of months, and confirm payment from your Versified wallet. Top up your wallet first if needed.
  4. Choose a plan that matches your size: Basic (1 shop), Pro (up to 3 shops + 1 warehouse), or Premium (unlimited branches).

Step 2: Access your Retill dashboard

From your Versified account menu, click My Apps, then Go to Retill. You will land on the Retill business dashboard — your command center for POS, inventory, customers, and reports.

Step 3: Create your first shop

  1. Open Shops from the left menu.
  2. Click Create Shop and enter your branch name, location, and description.
  3. Save your shop. You can add more branches later if your plan allows.

Step 4: Add products to your catalog

Products live in your central Inventory (production) catalog before they reach a shop floor.

  1. Go to Inventory and open the Products tab.
  2. Create products with name, price, cost, barcode, category, and brand. Set expiry dates and reminders for perishable or pharmaceutical items.
  3. Select the products you want in your shop, click Transfer, choose your shop, enter quantities, and confirm.

Your shop now has stock ready to sell. Repeat transfers whenever you restock from your warehouse or central inventory.

Step 5: Invite your team

  1. Open Users and click Add User.
  2. Enter the team member's Versified account email (they must have an account first).
  3. Assign privileges — POS, Inventory, Reports, etc. — and select which shop(s) they can access.

Pro and Premium include unlimited users, so you can add cashiers and managers without extra per-user fees. Basic includes 2 users.

Step 6: Ring your first sale

  1. Open POS and select your active shop.
  2. Search and add products to the cart.
  3. Open checkout, choose payment method (Cash, Mobile Money, or Card), enter amount received, and complete the sale.
  4. Print or share the receipt. Inventory deducts automatically.
